Description:

This project involves the development of key sections of an 8-mile, shared-use, regional trail system that extends east/west through the city of Vancouver along the Burnt Bridge Creek Greenway. This project will complete the 8-mile trail system and provide continuous access through many of Vancouver's most populated residential areas. Key elements of this project include an overpass across Interstate 5 and 2 miles of new trails. The shared-use trail system will connect a wide range of schools, parks, and other major features. These include Arnold Park, Leverich Park, BPA Park, David Douglas Park, South Vancouver Lake and Stewart's Glen Natural Area, Meadow Brook Marsh, the Vancouver Tennis Center, Fort Vancouver High School, Discovery Middle School, and the Bagley Community Center. The trail will provide opportunities for hiking, jogging, and biking in the center of an urban area with over 230,000 people, and will provide trail facilities for major walking and biking events such as Vancouver's annual Discovery Walk Festival, which attracts hundreds of people each year from the throughout the United States, Canada, and other countries.

Location:
From Main Street in Vancouver, drive east 1/2 mile on 39th Street to Leverich Park. Leverich is located immediately east of I-5 overpass location. Also, the new 2-mile trail segment follows BPA corridor between Divine Road and 18th Street.

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
