Status
Funded in 1999
WWRP Applicant: Snohomish County Parks Dept WWRP Category: Local Parks WWRP Grant: $300,000 Applicant Match: $350,420 Project Type: Development County: Snohomish  Legislative District: 39th

The goal of this development project is to construct a much needed baseball field for the community of Darrington, which is located in northeast Snohomish County. Currently, there is only one full size baseball/softball field within the school district. Teams must vie for time on old pasture land fields or use unsafe overlapping outfields. An additional field - the first of three planned at the new Whitehorse Community Park - will effectively double the community’s playspace, and ensure that girls’ sports teams and adult leagues can also take advantage of quality playing conditions. Additional improvements include a playground, restrooms, landscaping, irrigation, and park furniture. The Town of Darrington and the surrounding community enthusiastically support the project, and have offered a significant amount of donated labor and equipment.

RCO Project Number: 98-1250

Location

The project is located 25 miles east of Arlington in north Snohomish County. To reach the site, drive north on I-5 to SR530. Drive east on 530 through Arlington, to Darrington. The site lies just north of Darrington off Route 530.
