Washougal Oaks NAP/NRCA 2006
- Status
- Funded in 2007
The Department of Natural Resources will use this grant to acquire 150 acres east of Washougal as part of a larger area that encompasses the largest, high-quality, native oak woodland remaining in western Washington. The land supports two state sensitive plant species and two rare or threatened animal species: slender-billed white-breasted nuthatch and lower Columbia River steelhead. This acquisition is part of a multi-phased project with the long-term objective of protecting the oak woodland and its inhabitants from incompatible uses.
What is the WWRP?
The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
