Valley Floor Community Park Acquisition
- Status
- Funded in 2003
Kent seeks assistance for acquisition of 50.05 acres of relatively undeveloped land for future development of a community park, with both active and passive recreation opportunities. The site is located on the west bank of the Green River and is an important addition to the existing Green River Greenbelt due to its wildlife value, scenic views, and recreation opportunities. Access to the park is good, as it is near a major arterial, and a pedestrian/bicycle trail via the Green River Trail and South 212th Street underpass. Kent needs trailhead facilities for Green River Trail access, access to the river for fishing, group picnic shelters, and athletic fields. This acquisition can satisfy all of these needs.
Location
From I-5 take the Orillia Road Exit, go east toward Kent. Orillia Road becomes South 212 Street at the bottom of the hill. The site is located on the northwest corner of South 212 Street and Frager Road on the west bank of the Green River.
