Three Friends Fishing Hole Development

Status
Funded in 2001
WWRP Applicant: Kent Parks, Rec & Comm Serv WWRP Category: Trails WWRP Grant: $300,000 Applicant Match: $410,000 Project Type: Acquisition & Development County: King  Legislative District: 33rd

This combination project acquires 9+ acres. Development activities include: construction of a new trailhead and 1/2 mile of the Green River Trail; picnic shelter/restroom; 37 car parking lot; accessible fishing area; and native plant landscaping. The accessible trail will allow fishing close to the river, where steep slopes currently make bank fishing inaccessible. It will become the only accessible fishing area on the Green River. Native plantings along the greenbelt will help buffer the adjacent industrial area. The Boeing Company is donating nearly $1.8 million in property towards this project.

RCO Project Number: 00-1295

Location

From I-5, take the Orillia Road exit, and turn east onto Orillia Road. Head down the hill, the road becomes 212th St. You can not turn left onto Russell Road, so go past the site, turn left onto the new road (the first left), do a U-turn. Turn right onto Russell Road and park at the barricade. The land from 212th to 196th St., on the east side of the Green River Trail, from the OHW of the river 200 feet east is the land donation.

State Senators cherry pick projects, ignore WWRP rankings

The State Senate's proposed budget slashes Washington Wildlife & Recreation Program funding to almost half of what Governor Inslee recommended while favoring poorly ranked projects over highly ranked ones. The WWRP's independent ranking system is the key to its years of success, ensuring only the best projects get funded. Take action & urge your legislators to restore full funding today!

LWCF full funding bill reintroduced

Sens. Baucus (MT), Burr (NC), and Wyden (OR) & 4 cosponsors have introduced a new bill, the “Land and Water Conservation Authorization and Funding Act of 2013,” to provide full, permanent and dedicated funding for LWCF. Please join us in asking Senators Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray to renew their support and once again co-sponsor the bill!
