Sumner Urban to Mountain Trail, Section #4
- Status
- Funded in 2011
Sumner will use this grant to build .37 mile of trail on the north end of Sumner’s Urban to Mountain Trail. The trail follows the White River on the west edge of Sumner Meadows Golf Links, crosses the river on a pedestrian bridge, and continues to the site of a future city park. Sumner’s Urban to Mountain Trail, including this section, is the missing link for 38 continuous miles of trail from Seattle’s Interurban Trail to the Foothills Trail leading to Mount Rainier. The City will contribute more than $1.2 million in cash and federal and private grants.
Location
The trail is located in Sumner, WA near the intersection of SR-410 and SR-167. The trail runs from Stewart Road to 16th Street. To get to the northern section of trail take the Stewart Road exit off of SR-167 and go to the Sumner Meadows Golf Links to the east. To get to the southern section of trail from SR 167, take the Stewart Road exit, head east to Valentine Road and turn south. From there turn east on 16th Street East and head to the end of the road. The existing trail runs south from the end of 16th Street East, and the proposed trail will connect there and head north.
