Cherry Creek Acquisitions

WWRP Applicant: King County DNR & Parks WWRP Category: Riparian Protection WWRP Grant: $265,000 Applicant Match: $265,000 Project Type: Acquisition County: King  Legislative District: 45th 

The Department of Natural Resources will partner with King County to acquire 25 acres of riparian habitat along Cherry Creek in the Markworth Forest. Cherry Creek is a high quality salmonid stream. Acquisition will include a minimum of 220-foot buffers around significant wetlands adjacent to Cherry Creek. Work will include demolishing an empty house and outbuildings.

What is the WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
