King County is requesting WWRP assistance for its Soos Creek Regional Trail. When completed, the trail will link the Soos Creek Plateau to the existing Cedar Regional Trail, the City of Renton and the new cities of Maple Valley and Covington. Presently, the Soos Creek Trail is complete from Lake Meridian to Gary Grant Park. This Phase 4 development proposal would extend the developed trail 1¼ miles along the main stream of the upper Big Soos Creek, north from Gary Grant Park. The eight-acre acquisition portion of the proposal will provide the trail’s northern terminus, and complete the long anticipated extension of this trail to its connection with the Cedar River Regional Trail.

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
