Skagit Riverwalk Trail Phase 2

Mount Vernon will use this grant to build a .34-mile riverfront trail in the city’s historic downtown. The pedestrian trail will have a 24-foot-wide, decorative concrete walkway with expansive views of the Skagit River and downtown. This trail, the city’s most significant, will increase access to the shoreline and opportunities for public recreation. It is being built on the city’s main parking lot. This project has strong community involvement and support among citizens, public officials, and key city leaders. Senator Patty Murray and the Governor’s Office financially have supported the project. The City will contribute $781,200 in cash and a state grant.

Heading north on I-5, take the WA-536 W / KINCAID ST. exit- EXIT 226. Turn left onto E. KINCAID ST/WA-536. Stay on KINCAID ST 0.3 miles to MAIN ST. Turn right on MAIN ST and the revetment is on the left adjacent to the Skagit River with parking.

What is the WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
