Sharp-tailed Grouse Phase 4
- Status
- Funded in 2003
The Columbian sharp-tailed grouse is threatened in Washington and a species at risk throughout most of North America. In Washington, they currently exist in eight small, isolated populations, all of which are declining. The major factors contributing to the decline of sharp-tailed grouse populations include conversion, degradation, and isolation of shrub-steppe habitat. The proposed acquisition will address factors contributing to the declines of sharp-tailed grouse by converting croplands back to shrub-steppe, enhancing existing habitat, and integrating isolated"" areas into a larger sharp-tailed grouse management area.""
Location
This project area straddles the Division Road in northern Douglas County from about Road 25 to 5.5 miles north. In general, it is west of Bridgeport and south of Brewster.
