Renton Heritage Park Acquisition

Status
Funded in 2009
WWRP Applicant: Renton Parks Department WWRP Category: Local Parks WWRP Grant: $242,127 Applicant Match: $242,127 Project Type: Acquisition County: King  Legislative District: 11th

This acquisition in King County will secure a 2.06-acre parcel located between two undeveloped parcels currently owned by Renton. With the purchase the city will be able to link three sites into one large enough for a new neighborhood park. The resulting 8.84 acres meets the city's standard of two to ten acres for a neigborood park. The property, located in Renton's East Planning Area is surrounded by mixed land uses of multi-family and single-family units. Currently, there are no neighborhood parks serving this area. The acquisition would be the first step toward meeting the recreational need and opportunities for this area. The future park will provide: a children's play area, basketball courts, picnic shelter, restrooms, open lawn area, and walking trails. This acquisition is listed on the Renton Six Year Capital Improvement Plan as the City's #2 priority project for 2003.

RCO Project Number: 03-1157
