This project will complete the acquisition of wetland parcels that are a critical part of the headwaters of Puget Creek, which drains into the Duwamish River near Kellogg Island. This wetland supports a riparian forest that serves to maintain low-water (summer) flow in the creek, providing excellent habitat for many species of wildlife, birds, and amphibians along the course of the creek as it flows through public lands in Puget Park and the West Duwamish Greenbelt. The purchase will fill the last gap in the public ownership of the wetland, increasing the total held by Seattle Parks to 6.83 acres and over 1100 lineal feet of creek frontage. This project is to acquire the remaining parcel a 0.49-acre wetland property.
