Kitsap County is requesting WWRP assistance for the acquisition of 6.4 acres of waterfront in the center of the Hansville community in North Kitsap County. The park site is approximately one mile west of the historic Point No Point Lighthouse. The project will provide improved and expanded public access to saltwater beaches, freshwater and estuarine wetlands, the lighthouse and a large, forested county park. A partial land donation worth $100,000 and extensive community support has assisted the County in accomplishing this proposal. The park will serve as a community focal point and will be designed to accommodate beach walking, picnicking, fishing, kayaking and enjoyment of the scenic waterfront of Puget Sound. The site has been of the highest priority in Kitsap County’s Open Space program for over six years.

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
