Oyster Plant Park - Pier Restoration

This project completes development that will provide public access to the Liberty Bay waterfront. The city has a 25 year agreement with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife to improve and maintain the property for public recreation purposes. Improvements include pier restoration, with interpretive displays under a shelter on the pier. The city does not have any public access on the southwest side of the city, so this pier will provide a place for wildlife viewing and recreational activity. It will also be a stop on the newly funded Liberty Bay Waterfront Trail, scheduled to begin construction in the fall of 2000. All of these pieces"" will provide local residents and visitors alike the resources to enjoy the shoreline. This area is also a part of the Poulsbo Fjords Audubon Wildlife Viewing Area.""

Heading north on Highway 3, take the Bainbridge Island exit. Head south on Highway 305 approximately 2.5 miles and turn right on Hostmark Street. Go 2 blocks and turn left on 6th Street. Go to the stopsign and turn left on Fjord Drive. The site is about 1/4 mile south at 17881 Fjord Drive NE.

What is the WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
