Status
Funded in 1999
WWRP Applicant: City of Okanogan WWRP Category: Local Parks WWRP Grant: $103,893 Applicant Match: $132,000 Project Type: Acquisition & Development County: Okanogan  Legislative District: 7th

Okanogan’s proposal requests WWRP aid to purchase 26 acres and to develop four ballfields and six soccer fields - Phase 1 of its regional sports complex. The complete facility will eventually provide softball/baseball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, volleyball and handball courts, and picnic facilities. Since 1991, when a community-wide survey indicated a need for a facility of this type, and since 1992, when Okanogan County’s Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Plan was adopted, the valley community has worked to acquire and build the complex. Broad community support for this project is exhibited through many cash donations, donated labor and materials.
