Newman Lake Fishing Dock

The Department of Fish and Wildlife will use this grant to build a fishing dock at Newman Lake, a popular year-round spot for fishing, boating, swimming, and wildlife watching east of Spokane and Liberty Lake. The department's access site has no shoreline access for anglers with disabilities and very little shoreline access for able-bodied anglers. Anglers often fish from the shore next to the boat ramps, causing conflicts between users. Work also will include building an accessible viewing platform.

Location

Travel east from Spokane on I-90 15 miles. Take exit 269 toward Liberty Lake/Otis Orchards, proceed onto E Appleway Ave, left onto N Liberty Lake Rd, which becomes N Harvard Rd., then right on WA-290/E Trent Ave, left onto N Starr Rd, left onto E Newman Lake Dr. then left into the WDFW access site on the lake.

What is the WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
