Mount Vista Park

This project will acquire a 4-acre neighborhood park in a rapidly developing residential area 1.5 miles north of Salmon Creek near the WSU-Vancouver Campus. The surrounding neighborhood consists of single- and multi-family housing, and rapid growth as been accelerated by close proximity to the WSU campus, easy access to I-205 and I-5, and available roads and infrastructure. The existing service area population is 2,000, and the population at build-out is estimated to be 4,000. In addition, Mount Vista Park provides the only recreation opportunities in the service area. The project site is well suited as a neighborhood park. The property slopes gradually to the east, There are extensive views of the Cascade Mountains, including Mt. Saint Helens and Mt. Adams. The property supports a variety of vegetation, including mature Douglas fir, cedar, maple, and alder trees. Future improvements will include a perimeter trail, open play meadow, picnic tables, and children's play equipment.
Location
Take 134th Street Exit from I-5. Drive east to NE 29th Avenue. Drive north 1.5 miles to NE 163rd Street, and turn left (west). Turn left on 28th Street and right on 162nd. NE 162nd ends at park site.

What is the WWRP?
The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
