Morse Creek
- Status
- Funded in 1999
Morse Creek is located in Clallam County on the east side of Port Angeles’ Urban Growth Boundary. WDFW proposes to purchase 140 acres of undeveloped, high quality creek, riparian areas, and adjacent wetlands to protect vital salmon habitat. The creek is utilized by coho, steelhead and reintroduced chinook (proposed for listing) and the target property contains 25% of the steelhead spawning habitat on the entire creek. Bird species include harlequin ducks, wood ducks, eagles, falcons and woodpeckers. This project presents an opportunity to protect critical salmon habitat and showcase a diverse wildlife habitat area located immediately adjacent to a rapidly growing urban area. The project also ties in with plans to complete the Olympic Discovery Trail.
What is the WWRP?
