Milton Interurban Trail
- Status
- Funded in 2001
The City of Milton will acquire almost 20 acres of the abandoned Interurban Railroad right-of-way and begin development of the right-of way into a regional trail network. The trail will be developed to provide active recreational opportunities for pedestrians and cyclists as well as passive recreational activities with interpretive viewpoints and picnic areas. The trail will provide a valuable community asset that will extend far beyond the corporate boundaries of the city. The trail will ultimately connect west through the City of Fife to the Port of Tacoma westward to the Tacoma waterfront, and east through the City of Edgewood into the Sumner-Pacific Trail and northward through the Kent Valley into the King County Regional Trail Network. Connection through the City of Edgewood will also extend southward to the Puyallup River Trail.
Location
The project is located in the abandoned Interurban Railroad right-of-way that meanders through south King County to the north of the City of Milton (see parcel map).
