The City of Lake Forest Park is seeking WWRP aid for the acquisition of the city’s first public waterfront property along Lake Washington. Currently, there is no public access to the lake within the City. The purchase of this anchor property, which the City hopes will be the first of several acquisitions and use-agreements with adjoining property owners, will provide the first opportunity to provide lake access the public. Future amenities at the waterfront park will include a wading beach, canoe and kayak access point and rentals, lawn games, parking, bike racks, seating areas and restrooms. The location is also convenient to the popular Burke Gilman Trail system.

What is the WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
