Lacamas Prairie Natural Area 2006

Status
Funded in 2007
WWRP Applicant: Dept of Natural Resources WWRP Category: Natural Areas WWRP Grant: $1,315,755 Project Type: Acquisition County: Clark  Legislative District: 18th

The Department of Natural Resources will use this grant to buy 224 acres of wet prairie north of Vancouver, the only Willamette Valley wet prairie example of its size and quality in Washington. The prairie supports the only population of Bradshaw's Lomatium known to occur in Washington. There are only 20 occurrences of this globally critically imperiled plant species in the world, and this is the second largest. The property also contains habitat for five state sensitive plant species and one rare animal species. This was the top ranked project of eight competing for funding in the natural areas category of the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program.

RCO Project Number: 06-1831

What is the WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
