Issaquah will use this grant to acquire 7.8 acres of creek-side properties for the protection of Chinook salmon. The Johnson Property, also known as Guano Acres, is one of the last large and undeveloped properties on the creek in the city. Acquisition of this land will protect more than 600 feet of riparian habitat. Issaquah will contribute $1.3 million in cash, voter-approved bonds, conservation futures, and a local grant.

What is the WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
