Interurban Trail - 3rd Ave SW to Stewart Road
- Status
- Funded in 2009
Pacific will use this grant to build about 1/2 mile of 12-foot-wide asphalt trail through town, extending the existing 14-mile Interurban Trail, which spans between employment centers in Auburn, Kent, Tukwila, Renton, and Seattle and ends at 3rd Avenue Southwest in Pacific. The Interurban is a north-south, off-road, non-motorized route that is popular with more than 500 daily pedestrians and bicyclists. Once the trail passes through Pacific, it will connect with other planned trails, mainly the Foothills Trail in Sumner. Once linked, the Interurban and Foothills trails will provide almost 35-miles of continuous trail between dense urban centers and rural communities. The city will contribute $267,879 in cash and a federal grant. (08-1690)
Location
The worksite begins at the termini of the existing Interurban Trail along 3rd Avenue SW. From SR 167, follow sign to ""Algona Pacific"" and exit onto Ellingson Road. Turn east onto Ellingson. Take the first right onto Frontage Road and go south. Frontage Road tees with 3rd Avenue SW. Turn left onto 3rd Ave SW. The termini of the Interurban Trail will be immediately on your left. The proposed trail will extend immediately south from this point.
