Every biennium opportunities arise for State Parks to purchase small, relatively low cost properties that are key to protecting or enhancing an existing state park. These parcels lie immediately adjacent to, or within a state park. This grant will allow timely purchases of key properties that will help avoid potentially incompatible uses adjacent to park lands; allow for park properties that will help avoid potentially incompatible uses adjacent to park lands; allow for park expansion; protect key watersheds; and improve access to parks. All purchases are crucial to maintaining the integrity or operations of current park properties. Approximately 225 acres have been acquired in past inholding projects.

What is the WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
