Hathaway Boat Launch Replacement

Status
Funded in 2011
WWRP Applicant: City of Washougal WWRP Category: Water Access WWRP Grant: $64,795 Applicant Match: $64,796 Project Type: Development County: Clark  Legislative District: 18th

Washougal will use this grant to remove the Hathaway boat launch, construct a new launch, and create a more accessible path to the beach for people with disabilities. Hathaway Park, one of Washougal’s most visited parks, provides boat access to the Washougal River. The launch has seen no major improvements or repairs since it was built 30 years ago, and it has worn into a potentially unsafe condition. The upper Washougal River is known as an advanced water trail because of its challenging boulders and narrow channels. Hathaway Park provides one of two trailer launches on the river and a gentle river experience for a wide variety of users. The potential loss of this launch eliminates a valuable service for both upstream users who take out here and boats that travel between Hathaway and the downstream access points. The City will contribute $64,796.

RCO Project Number: 10-1098

Location

SR-14 East. Turn left on 32nd Street. Turn left on ""H"" Street. At the stopsign at 25th Street turn right into Hathaway Park. Proceed down the road to the Lower portion of the park where the existing boat launch is located.
