Harbor Family Park Acquisition

Peninsula Metropolitan Park District will use this grant to buy 18 acres at the intersection of 70th Avenue and 32nd Street Northwest for a park. The land was acquired by five families who formed Harbor Family Park, LLC in order to give the community time to purchase the property. If funding fails to materialize, the property will be sold for housing. The surrounding area is the most densely populated area of the Gig Harbor Peninsula outside of Gig Harbor, and is identified as significantly underserved by park facilities. The park district will contribute $824,212 in cash, bonds, and donations of cash and land.
Location
From Hwy 16, exit at City Center/Pioneer/Wollochet and head west, away from downtown Gig Harbor on Wollochet for 2.5 miles as Wollochet bends and becomes 40th St. Continue west on 40th St for 0.7 miles to 70th Ave and turn left. Drive 0.5 miles on 70th Ave to ""T"" intersection at 32nd Ave. Park on graded, gravel area at property on NE corner.

What is the WWRP?
The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
