Green River Acquisition

The King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks will use this grant to buy 38.5 acres in the 1,000-acre Green River Natural Area. The property has salmon habitat in excellent condition with functioning side channels, floodplain forests, and varied types of habitats within the river. Recovery of Chinook salmon relies on the protection of intact, productive habitats. The natural area is home to Green River fall Chinook salmon. The county will contribute $875,000 in conservation futures. (08-1241)

What is the WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
