Evergreen Park, Ph 2 (Smith Cove Area)
- Status
- Funded in 1999
Bremerton’s Evergreen Park, created in 1911, is a passive park which capitalizes on the natural beauty of the waterfront and serves as a neighborhood and community facility. Needing major improvement after many years of use, Evergreen Park is being renovated in phases. A previous WWRP grant for Phase I is underway. The current request, Phase II, will refurbish the southeast 2.5 acres of Evergreen Park and develop 4.5 acres of recently acquired land around Smith Cove on the Port Washington Narrows. Development includes an amphitheater, multi-purpose playfields, picnic shelter, restrooms, walking path, and reconfigured boat launch parking to add additional general use parking. This project eliminates an industrial brown field, allowing public use for the great variety of recreational opportunities on Bremerton’s north side waterfront.
Location
From the Bremerton Ferry Dock, proceed north on Washington Street. Continue through the intersection at Washington & Manette Bridge, Washington turns into 11th Avenue. Proceed west on 11th Ave. to Park Avenue, turn right. Proceed North on Park Avenue until you reach Evergreen Park, 1400 Park Ave. The project is newly acquired property at Smith Cove between Sheldon Ave/13th Street and Smith Cove to Pacific Avenue.
