Entiat Slopes NAP

Status
Funded in 1999
WWRP Applicant: Dept of Natural Resources WWRP Category: Natural Areas WWRP Grant: $248,194 Project Type: Acquisition County: Chelan  Legislative District: 12th

Entiat Slopes is an existing Natural Area Preserve (NAP) site 15 miles north of Wenatchee in the foothill zone of eastern Washington. The proposal is to acquire additional critical properties, to nearly double the existing acreage. The target parcels contain the state’s highest quality examples of remaining native arid plant communities. They also provide important wildlife habitat, including critical riparian areas. The project will complement adjacent Bureau of Land Management land which provides protection for rare plants. Entiat Slopes NAP contains the state’s largest known population of Thompson’s Clover (state threatened and federal candidate) and the Longsepal Globemallow (state threatened).

State Senators cherry pick projects, ignore WWRP rankings

The State Senate's proposed budget slashes Washington Wildlife & Recreation Program funding to almost half of what Governor Inslee recommended while favoring poorly ranked projects over highly ranked ones. The WWRP's independent ranking system is the key to its years of success, ensuring only the best projects get funded. Take action & urge your legislators to restore full funding today!

LWCF full funding bill reintroduced

Baucus (MT), Burr (NC), and Wyden (OR) & 4 cosponsors have introduced a new bill, the “Land and Water Conservation Authorization and Funding Act of 2013,” to provide full, permanent and dedicated funding for LWCF.
