Eldridge Farm Acquisition

WWRP Applicant: Whatcom County WWRP Category: Farmland Preservation WWRP Grant: $160,310 Applicant Match: $160,310 Project Type: Acquisition County: Whatcom 

Whatcom County will use this grant to acquire development rights on two adjacent farms, which are predominately grass-based livestock agriculture. Totaling 103 acres, the Joneli and Dickson farms will help Whatcom County curb the loss of agricultural lands. The primary benefit of the proposed project is to ensure the permanent preservation and maintenance of a large block of rural land for agricultural and open space. Whatcom County will contribute $312,768 from conservation futures.

What is the WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
