Ebey's Reserve Farmland
- Status
- Funded in 2007
Island County will use this grant to protect 150 acres of farmland inside Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve by acquiring conservation easements. The land, which has been actively farmed for more than a century, is a critical connection to more than 1,000 acres of farmland protected by conservation easements held by the National Park Service. Acquisition will enhance a large swath of both current and historical farmland, connecting Crockett Prairie to Ebey's Prairie. The property is highly valued for expensive homes because of views, its location in the reserve adjacent to permanently protected lands and low supply of available property in the area. Island County will contribute $750,000 in donated land and a federal grant.
Location
Whidbey Island. Take Hwy. 525 north from the Clinton ferry, turn left lon Hwy. 20 and go past Keystone Ferry terminal and Camp Casey. Take a right on Fort Casey Rd. Go to mailbox 710 on Fort Casey Rd.
