Eastside Park Soccer Fields

Status
Funded in 1999
WWRP Applicant: City of Omak WWRP Category: Local Parks WWRP Grant: $90,153 Applicant Match: $90,153 Project Type: Development County: Okanogan  Legislative District: 7th

Creating two lighted regulation soccer fields in Omak’s East Side Park is the most urgent priority identified after a year-long planning process for the City’s largest park. Over the last twenty years, soccer has become very popular, but none of the park’s existing ballfields were developed for soccer, resulting in the soccer program being shuffled from one temporary field to another throughout the season. With this grant, new, regulation fields - for soccer only - will be developed in an undeveloped part of the park, turning a dust bowl into green space. Extensive volunteer effort will be expended on this project, including support from the Colville Confederated Tribes. Specific development will include field irrigation, turf, benches, bleachers, soccer goals, gravel parking, field lighting and an equipment storage building.

RCO Project Number: 98-1180

Location

The proposed site for the soccer fields is a bare, undeveloped area at the southeasetrn corner of East Side Park. To reach the site, travel east on Second Avenue from the Visitor Information Center.
