Dosewallips - Bloomfield Acquisition

Status
Funded in 1999
WWRP Applicant: State Parks WWRP Category: State Parks WWRP Grant: $159,787 Project Type: Acquisition County: Jefferson  Legislative District: 24th

Dosewallips State Park, along Highway 101 on the Hood Canal, is a popular public shellfish harvesting and beach area. Currently access from the park’s day use area to the state-owned beach is unsafe and requires walking along the Highway 101 shoulder and across the Dosewallips River bridge. Beach users often park their cars illegally along the highway, creating hazards to both pedestrians and auto traffic. This project acquires a 6.6 acre parcel adjacent to the park and provides an ideal trailhead parking area with direct access to state park land and beach which will greatly improve public access and safety.

RCO Project Number: 98-1070

Location

On the west side of Hood Canal near the town of Brinnon.
