Status
Funded in 2003
WWRP Applicant: State Parks WWRP Category: State Parks WWRP Grant: $2,225,650 Project Type: Acquisition County: Skagit  Legislative District: 10th

Deception Pass State Park, in central Whidbey Island in Island County, is one of the most visited (and spectacular) of Washington's state parks. State Parks has committed to enhance visitor facilities and to protect this popular park from incompatible development in park inholdings. This high-priority acquisition project secures the most significant current inholding in the park, the thirty-seven acre Sunrise Resort. This site will allow for future development of a centrally located park administrative and maintenance center that is accessible to the rest of the park and improve operating efficiencies. Also, the property will provide future opportunities for development of public campsites and amenities in high demand at this park. This project is vital to the implementation of the 2001 Deception Pass State Park Facilities Master Plan.
