Daleway Park Aquatic Playground

Status
Funded in 2007
WWRP Applicant: City of Lynnwood WWRP Category: Local Parks WWRP Grant: $158,341 Applicant Match: $633,928 Project Type: Acquisition & Development County: Snohomish  Legislative District: 21st

Lynnwood will use this grant to renovate the spray pool in Daleway Neighborhood Park. The 35-year-old spray pool does not meet safety and accessibility standards. The existing concrete surfacing is cracking; elevated concrete structures are hard, slippery, and dangerous; concrete curbing limits accessibility; and constant maintenance is required. In spite of its deteriorating condition, the spray pool is popular in the summer, hosting about 150 weekly users. Birthday parties, summer camps, and family outings are planned around it every weekend. An innovative and thematic new aquatic playground has been designed to increase playability and improve safety and access. The aquatic elements are programmable for interactive use and designed for all ages. Lynnwood will contribute $652,579 in donated land and a local grant.
