Clear Creek Trail

Kitsap County is requesting WWRP assistance to construct the 2½-mile long Clear Creek Trail located in the urban core of the unincorporated community of Silverdale. The Clear Creek Trail Head will begin at the new county park at Old Mill Site on Dyes Inlet. The trail will connect the estuary with the Silverdale Wetlands, Gateway Rotary County Park and finally, to an as yet unnamed 69-acre county park to the north. Users will see diverse habitats from the saltwater estuary and along Clear Creek, including occasional killer whales in the bay, salmon and cutthroat spawning habitat, blue heron, native wetland, upland and historical and cultural features. The Clear Creek 2½-mile trail will be handicapped accessible, 8 feet in width, with a compacted crushed gravel surface. Porcelain enamel interpretive signage will be placed along the trail to allow casual users as well as organized classes to benefit from the natural heritage of Clear Creek.
Location
From Seattle: Take Hwy 305 from ferry to Hwy 3, west of Poulsbo. Go South on Hwy 3 to the Silverdale exit. Turn left onto Kitsap Mall Blvd. Follow Kitsap Mall Blvd. to stop light at the intersection of Silverdale Way. Turn left on Silverdale Way and proceed until Myhre Road. Turn Right at stop light, and pull into the All Star Bowling Alley. Park in the rear of the bowling alley and walk east about 20 yards. From Port Orchard: Take Hwy. 16 to Hwy. 3, just North of Gorst. Follow Hwy. 3 north and take the Newberry Hill exit to Silverdale. Turn right onto Newberry Hill which will turn into Silverdale Way. Proceed on Silverdale Way through four stop lights and turn right in Myhre Road. Then follow the above instructions to the bowling alley.

What is the WWRP?
The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
