Chelatchie Prairie Railroad Trail
- Status
- Funded in 2008
Clark County will use this grant to develop 3 miles of the Chelatchie Prairie Railroad Trail stretching north from Fairgrounds Park on the east edge of downtown Battle Ground to Battle Ground Lake State Park. The trail, an important recreation resource in the county, ultimately will extend 34 miles from Vancouver in southwest Clark County to Chelatchie Prairie in the northeast. Purchased in the mid-1980s, the trail corridor hosts both an excursion train that runs north of Battle Ground and the opportunity for a parallel trail. A chain-link fence will separate the trail from the rail line. Clark County will contribute more than $1 million in cash and a federal grant.
Location
Drive east through Battle Ground on SR502/Main Street. Fairgrounds Park trailhead is on north side of Main Street at east end of town.
