Cascade View Park Expansion
- Status
- Funded in 2002
This proposal acquires 0.19 acres of land to expand parklands available for future development of a neighborhood park. There are no local parks in this high-density residential area. The nearest developed park is about one mile away, across the five-lane Highway 99. Currently, children are playing in the streets or in their apartments' parking lots. Since 1990, the city has worked to build this park. In June 2000, the City Council was finally able to authorize the acquisition of 2.18 acres for the park. However, one crucial lot could not be purchased due to the seller's and City's financial situation. This grant proposal to acquire the 0.19-acre Humiston Property will meet the city's number one Park Plan priority, will fulfill an eleven-year old City Council promise, and most importantly, meet many recreational and safety needs of the neighborhood.
Location
From I-5, go west on 518. Take Pacific Highway 99 Exit and go north to 144th Street. Turn west (left) on 144th Street. One block west is 37th Avenue South. Property is located at S. 144th Street and 37th Avenue South
