Carpenter Creek

This acquisition is located near the urban growth area of Kingston. The site has 14 acres of wetlands along Carpenter Creek, including estuarine salt marsh at the mouth of Carpenter Creek, about 3/4 of a mile west of the ferry landing. The acquisition preserves critical salt marsh habitat and an important salmon and cutthroat trout stream for the community. It would also help create a primary link (including passive trails) to other public lands near, and adjacent to, this site including Carpenter Lake, Nike Site Park, three schools, and Stillwaters Environmental Education Center.
Location
From Hwy 104 entering Kingston, turn right just 2 blocks before the Washington State Ferry onto West Kingston Road. Follow this road approximately 3/4 mile. The salt marsh is located just past the intersection of S. Kingston Road on your right. The other access is located on Barber Cutoff Road. Go approximately 1/4 mile and park at the Stillwaters Environmental Education Center at 26059 Barber Cut off Rd.(360-297-2876) The property is west of here

What is the WWRP?
The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
