Funded in 2001
WWRP Applicant: Seattle Parks & Rec Dept WWRP Category: Local Parks WWRP Grant: $300,000 Applicant Match: $1,019,436 Project Type: Development County: King  Legislative District: 43rd

This project is a cooperative effort by the neighborhood community, Seattle Public Utilities, and Seattle Parks to redevelop and double the size of a heavily used urban park. The existing park, though worn, is popular because a large number of residences, day care facilities, schools, and businesses are located nearby. This project implements a state public health requirement to lid reservoirs. The current open-air reservoir will be replaced with a new underground reservoir with park land extended on top of the lid—a four acre increase of useable park. Phase 2 work includes a new univeral access children's play area, grass lawns for informal recreation, walking/jogging paths, a gazebo, interpretive signage, site lighting, underground drainage, park furniture, and extensive landscaping with irrigation.

RCO Project Number: 00-1316

Location

State Senators cherry pick projects, ignore WWRP rankings

The State Senate's proposed budget slashes Washington Wildlife & Recreation Program funding to almost half of what Governor Inslee recommended while favoring poorly ranked projects over highly ranked ones. The WWRP's independent ranking system is the key to its years of success, ensuring only the best projects get funded. Take action & urge your legislators to restore full funding today!

LWCF full funding bill reintroduced

Sens. Baucus (MT), Burr (NC), and Wyden (OR) & 4 cosponsors have introduced a new bill, the “Land and Water Conservation Authorization and Funding Act of 2013,” to provide full, permanent and dedicated funding for LWCF. Please join us in asking Senators Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray to renew their support and once again co-sponsor the bill!
