Bradley Lake Acquisition
- Status
- Funded in 2000
This project is for the acquisition of 59.1 acres for the development of a community park in Puyallup's South Hill area. The site is an old farm which includes a 13-acre lake. Plans are to maintain the farm theme since it has historical and cultural significance for the area. The acquisition and development of a community park was the highest priority identified by the public in a community survey. The Bradley Lake site was identified and a local bond issue was approved by the residents in 1997 by a 72% margin. The city also received a significant donation from the landowner. Over 600 residents attended the public meeting to help begin planning for the proposed park. Future development of the park includes facilities for all ages and interests - ballfields, fishing access, walking trails, picnic areas, interpretative sites, and an amphitheater/open lawn area. A network of trails will also help tie this site to nearby Wildwood Park and Pierce Community College’s campus. The entire park will provide barrier free opportunities.
Location
Exit State Route 512 at SR161 (Meridian Avenue South) to 37th Avenue SE. Turn left at 37th Avenue SE. Proceed to 5th Street SE and turn left. Proceed to 31st Avenue SE and turn right to enter park property.
