This 50 acre acquisition is for a large multipurpose recreation area to serve the growing Cheney population. When completed, the park will contain an outdoor swimming pool, softball/baseball fields, soccer fields, picnic facilities, jogging trail, playground, and tot lot. This has been the city's top priority parks project since 1993.

Location

From Cheney, drive north on 1st St to Betz Rd. Turn left on Betz Rd. and drive approximately 1/2 mile west to the park site, which is presently farmland planted in wheat.

What is the WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
