Beebe Springs Natural Area Phase 3 Development

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife will use this grant to improve the Beebe Springs Natural Area, which surrounds the Chelan Hatchery. Crews will extend a trail, create a side-channel area along the Columbia River where young fish can grow, restore shrub-steppe, plant native plants along the river, develop a hand-carry boat launch, and add interpretive signs. This is the third phase of a project to restore the river bank and shrub-steppe habitat at a former orchard. The department will contribute $500,000 in cash and a state grant.

Location

At the intersection of Highway 97A and Highway 150 in Chelan, head east 3.1 miles on Highway 150 to the intersection of Highway 97. Turn left (north) on Highway 97 for .25 miles to the turn-in to the project site on the right (east) side of the highway.

What is the WWRP?

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
