Beacon Rock Picnic Shelter
- Status
- Pending Legislative Action
With a WWRP grant in 2007 State Parks was able to complete Phase 1 of the Doetsch Day Use Area at Beacon Rock State Park. This day use area is now a very popular stop for school groups, boy scouts, wind surfers, picnickers, etc. One of the components of phase 2 is to construct a picnic shelter. The need for a kitchen shelter in the Doetsch Day Use Area was included in the master plan. If this WWRP grant is funded, State Parks will be able to construct a kitchen shelter. The kitchen shelter would provide picnic facilities for outdoor gatherings like weddings, family reunions and community events.
What is the WWRP?
The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
