Beacon Rock Picnic Shelter

Status
Pending Legislative Action
WWRP Applicant: State Parks WWRP Category: State Parks WWRP Grant: $205,800 Project Type: Development County: Skamania  Legislative District: 14th

With a WWRP grant in 2007 State Parks was able to complete Phase 1 of the Doetsch Day Use Area at Beacon Rock State Park. This day use area is now a very popular stop for school groups, boy scouts, wind surfers, picnickers, etc. One of the components of phase 2 is to construct a picnic shelter. The need for a kitchen shelter in the Doetsch Day Use Area was included in the master plan. If this WWRP grant is funded, State Parks will be able to construct a kitchen shelter. The kitchen shelter would provide picnic facilities for outdoor gatherings like weddings, family reunions and community events.

RCO Project Number: 12-1420

What is the WWRP?

State Senators cherry pick projects, ignore WWRP rankings

The State Senate's proposed budget slashes Washington Wildlife & Recreation Program funding to almost half of what Governor Inslee recommended while favoring poorly ranked projects over highly ranked ones. The WWRP's independent ranking system is the key to its years of success, ensuring only the best projects get funded. Take action & urge your legislators to restore full funding today!

LWCF full funding bill reintroduced

Baucus (MT), Burr (NC), and Wyden (OR) & 4 cosponsors have introduced a new bill, the “Land and Water Conservation Authorization and Funding Act of 2013,” to provide full, permanent and dedicated funding for LWCF.
