Battle Point Park Development

The Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park and Recreation District will use this grant to redevelop two soccer fields at Battle Point Park, the largest regional park on the island. Deteriorating drainage has made one field virtually unplayable. Redeveloping the fields will increase use, benefiting more than 2,000 local soccer and lacrosse players, and reduce maintenance. The park district will contribute more than $1 million in cash, voter-approved bonds, labor, and donated cash and labor.

What is the WWRP?
The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) is a state grant program that creates and conserves local and state parks, wildlife habitat and working farms. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office administers WWRP grants, and the legislature funds the program.
