This project in Clarkston will construct a family aquatic center. Supported by the passage of a bond measure in excess of $6.7 million, this facility will serve the residents of Asotin County and other neighboring communities in the Lewis/Clark valley. The project will provide a safe environment for recreation. By design, the facility will attract a wide range of age groups and will serve as a resource for swimming, water safety and many other water related activities and will address the need for rehabilitation and physical therapy. The aquatic center will have both outdoor and indoor components. The outdoor facility will include a zero depth pool, a traditional lap pool, a lazy river, waterslides, interactive water play structures, picnic sites, a playground, and sand volleyball courts. The indoor facility will include a traditional lap pool, a therapy pool, guard room, class/training room, locker/restrooms and a food service area. This new facility will replace the only public pool in the county that is closing at the end of this summer due to mechanical system failures. There are only two other public pools in the area, the most recent constructed in 1968.
