Lynnwood gets $850K for parks

Lynnwood Enterprise, July 15, 2009

The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program has awarded the city of Lynnwood with two parks grants.

One grant, for $500,000, will allow the city, using 50 percent of its own money, to develop Doc Hageman Park off Maple Road east of Alderwood mall, in the Tumark Hill neighborhood.

The 7.69-acre park is named after the man who farmed the property for more than 50 years.

Plans call for interpretive signs, a loop trail, sport court, play equipment, picnic areas, a play field, restrooms and parking.

Additionally, the city received $350,000 to develop the 2-acre Stadler Ridge Park in northeast Lynnwood.

There, the city will build outdoor courts, a plaza, parking, playground, trails and restrooms. Crews also will install signs, fencing, landscaping and park furniture, such as benches.
